There isn’t much that is more taxing than sales tax (pun intended), especially for eCommerce sellers. Once you think you have it down, the states will decide to change the rules. It is especially challenging when it comes to detailed issues like whether shipping is taxable. In this article, we will talk about what Nebraska has to say on shipping taxability.

Is Shipping Taxable in Nebraska?

Nebraska’s Department of Revenue says this:

Delivery charges taxable Nebraska

Nebraska is pretty cut and dry and when it comes to shipping taxability. It looks like sellers will be charging tax on shipping, if the item they are shipping is taxable. This excludes the US Postal System and their postage. If the item you are shipping isn’t taxable, then the shipping isn’t taxable.

In conclusion:

You will most likely charge tax on shipping in Nebraska.

If you are shipping a taxable item, the shipping is taxable. The only way it isn’t taxable is if:

  1. The item you are shipping isn’t taxable.
  2. You are using the US Postal system for direct mail.
