The holiday madness is officially here! Sales are going through the roof and eBay (and other eCommerce) stores are buzzing like crazy. These are extremely happy times for us online sellers, no doubt about it!

Having that said, while we’re consumed with our 2015 holiday selling it’s extremely important to start getting our eBay stores prepared for 2016 which is just around the corner. This means that in order for 2016 to be a successful business year, we need to start thinking about our business plan. One very important factor to take into consideration would be the division and scheduling of different sale events.

It’s a well known fact that the retail industry’s sale events are based on three universal factors: The change of seasons, national holidays and special events. Although some sellers tend to play it by ear and launch random sales at the last minute, we highly recommend planning ahead and deciding in advance how to generally spread the different sales throughout the year. This will help you maximize your stores’ potential and increase profits.

A great way to do so is by gathering all the important dates and events, deciding which listing to promote on different occasions and preparing a yearly sale schedule. But that may take a while.

That’s why we created the brand new 2016 Retail Calendar which is a great resource for all the major holidays and events over the course of 2016, along with related buying trends and useful tips that will help you plan ahead and sell more.

For instance, did you know that March is the National Craft Month? That means people are on the look for artsy products. Therefore January through Mid-February would be the perfect time to start listing and promoting DIY supplies. When the Craft sales peak is over, approximately between April and June, it would be high time to get rid of slow DIY listings, and listings that haven’t sold via Markdowns.

Other than getting rid of old items, markdowns are an extremely beneficial strategy for increasing traffic and triggering Best Offers. Markdowns also tend to attract returning buyers, and help to determine item’s optimal price. All of the above contribute to a higher sales volume, increasing revenues and making the most out of your online business.
